Casey Knowles, whom you may have seen in the Clinton ad, strongly supports Barack Obama. Even though Casey Knowles was a sleeping eight year old in the recent campaign commercial that was aired supporting Hillary Clinton, she didn’t very well like it. Casey Knowles is fixing to be eighteen years old and is a huge supporter of Barack Obama. On Sunday, on the weekend edition of Good Morning America on ABC, Casey Knowles stated that the ad was fear-mongering. She also stated that it was a really cheap hit to have to take and that she prefers the message that Obama is projecting “a brighter future”.
This well known ad for Clinton aired before last week’s vote took place in Texas and it implied that there was a lack of experience on Barack Obama’s part. The ad shows an exterior of the Colonial-style home as well as an old stock footage of Casey Knowles sleeping in bed. The narrator in the ad describes a phone that is ringing in the White House, the narrator states “It’s three a.m. and your children are now safely sleeping. Who do you want answering the phone?”
Hilary Clinton was able to win the Texas primary by a fifty one to forty seven percent margin. Casey Knowles mentioned that she didn’t even see the ad until it was lampooned by Jon Stewart on the well known Daily Show. She probably wouldn’t have even noticed it then if it wasn’t for her brother that noticed her. After her brother noticed that his sister was in the ad, the family began to replay the commercial over and over on their digital recorder just to make sure.
Casey Knowles stated that her family was parodying the ad, sort of making fun at it. The footage from the file was originally shot for an advertisement for a railroad company. In turn, the Clinton campaign bought it from a company known as Getty Images. Casey Knowles is a senior at Bonney Lake High School and will be turning eighteen years old next month. She has been currently campaigning for Obama. Casey Knowles attended the rally he had on February eighth at Seattle’s KeyArena.
Now that Obama’s campaign has gotten word about what is going on, they have contacted Casey Knowles and she may be in an ad supporting the Obama campaign now. However, nothing is for certain. With all of this confusion behind her, Casey now says that she will support whichever Democrat wins the nomination. Overall, this was a mere incident that Hilary was totally unaware of, even though her campaign had purchase the photo from a company, she had no idea that Casey was in the photo and that she supported her opposing candidate.
That fact should be taken into consideration when considering your point of view on this particular incident. Overall, this brought a lot of attention to the young girl that supports Barack Obama and that was not the point of the ad supporting Hilary Clinton.
