Famous people have a way of getting into trouble and having run ins with the law. That’s what happened to Esai Morales, star of “NYPD Blue”, over rape allegations from his ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Mazzocchi. However, luckily for Morales, no criminal charges will be filed according to the prosecutor’s office spokesperson.
The case was rejected by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office on Feb. 13 due to a lack of evidence of actually raping Elizabeth Mazzocchi, according to Shiara M. Davila.
Morales lawyer, Richard Charnley, expressed relief and happiness that his client was vindicated. He discussed the case to some degree saying Morales was never even questioned by the police much less taken into custody or charged with anything due to the accused rape of Elizabeth Mazzocchi.
Although, Elizabeth Mazzocchi accused Morales of raping her in April of 2006. The interesting thing is that although she accused him of rape she continued to live with him for many months afterward. Morales denies any wrongdoing and claims Elizabeth Mazzocchi is lying.
However, it is strange that Elizabeth Mazzocchi would be so vocal about an incident that never occurred. She even held a press conference to detail her accusations against Morales and to inform the public of the alleged rape.
The story does not end there, however. Elizabeth Mazzocchi went on to sue Morales for unspecified damages in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The lawsuit does contend that Elizabeth Mazzocchi was raped by Morales and that he also gave her herpes. This lawsuit has yet to go to trial.
The lawyer representing Elizabeth Mazzocchi, Nadar Pakfar, says that she maintains her accusations against Morales.
Pakfar led the press to believe that additional incriminating evidence may be discovered during the civil case that is strong enough to create a case against Morales and convince the DA to file criminal charges against him.
It was said the initial investigation by the DA was not comprehensive and did not have the evidence that will be found for the civil case.
Morales is known for his work in “Bad Boys, “La Bamba” and also in “NYPD Blue” where he played Lt. Tony Rodriguez.
He is certainly relieved the rape charges have been dropped and hopes to clear his name through the trial to come. The results of that lawsuit will surely be made public because both parties have been very vocal about the case and defending their respective positions.
It is possible that Morales raped Elizabeth Mazzocchi and she continued to live with him for months afterwards. Things of this nature have occurred within marriages and other relationships for years. However, simply because something of this nature “could have” occurred does not mean that it did. The truth will come out, and then one of the parties will be highly embarrassed. Regardless of who that individual is, the public will know practically immediately about what happened.
