It takes dedication, will power, determination, a love for the sport and a remarkable amount of skill and talent to play Georgia basketball or any sport for that matter. A basketball player lives for the adrenaline rush to please the crowd and the huge fan base they have developed not in only their respective states but nationwide, even worldwide. It is a rush to the finish with a simple goal of making to most amount basketball shots, in a certain about of time, to win the game and triumph.
Recently, Georgia basketball fans have a lot to celebrate as the much loved Georgia Bulldogs won the SEC tournament championship. They took the title defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Kentucky Wildcats, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Not even having the same mascot could stop this Georgia basketball team. After a run of four games in three days, even a tornado that swept through the city couldn’t stop the Georgia basketball players from marking their territory and coming out on top. Although it postponed the game for a moment, the Georgia basketball fans did not stop and took it in stride. They followed their team to the nearby Alexander Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Georgia Tech even when it was speculated that the dome may not be safe.
This is a huge victory for the University of Georgia basketball team, college and support since Georgia basketball has been able to break the ranks and advance to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament since 2002. They will go up against the Xavier Musketeers in the first round on Thursday, March 20th, 2008 in Washington, D.C.
The University of Georgia basketball team has been an unlikely field of players to join Xavier in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament but they are considering themselves stronger and wiser than before. The Georgia basketball Bulldogs are looking to have yet another victory on Thursday. Just because the statistics are not in their favor does not mean this Georgia basketball team will back down!
The University of Georgia basketball team is lead by their coach Dennis Felton who went through had a lot of trials before making it this far. By the time the Georgia basketball took the court, Dennis Felton only had eight scholarship players. They had many injuries and defections as well as disciplinary problems. This win was not just important to Georgia basketball stats, but also very important for Coach Dennis Felton who was on the verge of losing his job.
Many believe coach Dennis Felton was persecuted because he runs his team the correct way, meaning he loves his players more than he loves winning. While this definitely shows his morals by not allowing the Georgia basketball team to coast by just because they are basketball players, it does not do much for the basketball program. You have to find a good balance in disciplining your team while maintaining the politics of the sport. Apparently, many coaches who have focused more on the players rather than the game have fallen to the same fate. Fortunately for Dennis Felton, his struggles pay off in the end, proving it’s not just about the Georgia basketball game but the Georgia basketball players!
