The wee folk of leprechauns have been described in many ways, including mischevious tricksters, playful con artists, thieves of anything that catches they’re eyes, and the ever popular keepers of treasures. They possess a cunning and wit unmeasured by most standards, as they have centuries of experience in their trade. And as always, “they’re after me lucky charms!”Despite their mischievous ways, they are one of the most celebrated of the fairies. They are more than just keepers of treasure, they are also crafty shoemakers, and excellent legal men. Yes, leprechauns are accomplished legal men. If you ever catch one, as long as you keep your gaze unwavering upon him, he will be truthful about where his treasure lies, however, he may have tricks up his sleeve on how to reach that place that he won’t offer up willingly, and if you take your eyes off of him, in a flash he is gone. But you must also remember, courtesy to all leprechauns are a must. They love pranking people at a whim, and they enjoy it even more when they feel there is a lesson that can, and will, be learned by their pranks.
Leprechauns have also been known to pick a family to initially torment, however if the circumstances work out, will be a helpful presence around the home. Their presence is announced when furniture is mysteriously rearranged during the middle of the night, your bottle of whiskey is either drained, or becomes watered down, milk disappears, or your things will vanish, then turn up in the oddest of locations.
While in today’s society of disbelief, and lack of following of the ancient customs, this is extremely rare, if one has this happen, these pranks can be quickly stopped. Leave a spot of whiskey or milk out for the leprechaun visitor or house guest, leave out some food for them, as with everyone, they themselves do get hungry, and lastly, leave them something to entertain themselves with, and slowly at first, the pranks will stop, and you may just see that small chores that have been on your to-do list forever, that you just never had time for, will be done.
Even these relatively minor jobs are a tremendous relief for the family involved. To the right family, they will even make an appearance, and will ask for supplies to do their work. Of course, you will be compensated for the supplies with good luck, and even gold at times. Leprechauns are the masters of luck, they are the keepers of the shamrocks, which have long been associated with the leprechaun’s luck and fortune.

The leprechauns busily make their shoes and try hard not to be seen.
Only those who really believe have seen these little elves
And if we are all believers
We can surely see for ourselves.
Mystery. Clever and wit. Belief. These are the ideals of all leprechauns, whether they are friendly or pranksters. May ye hail the wee folk for ages to come.
