Tennessee Road Conditions – Overflowing and Flooding

There are benefits and drawbacks to everything, including rain during a drought. Macon County had been in desperate need of rain, but when it finally received it there were more problems than anyone could have imagined. Especially so with the Tennessee road conditions.

One of the problems caused by the heavy rainfall is flooding and the lightning from the storms have even caused a fire. Things for Tennessee road conditions are not looking so good at the moment. The heavy rainfall resulted in more than three inches of rain for some areas and a bit more in others.
Emergency Services and law enforcement were busy thanks to the treacherous Tennessee road conditions. Most residents were thankful for the rain and the easing of the drought, but the flooding was not anticipated and the resulting Tennessee road conditions were difficult for drivers to deal with.

One of the problems, resulting in problematic Tennessee road conditions, was a river overflowing its bed and rushing through the streets, backyards, and other areas simply because the storm drains could not handle the rush of water.
River Road was closed for several hours thanks to the heavy rain, which only led to more problems with Tennessee road conditions. Macon County officials were on hand to deal with the situation and re-route traffic.

Two other rivers, the Little Tennessee and the Cullasaja, threatened to overflow. Fortunately, the rain ended and they stayed within their banks. Otherwise, Tennessee  road conditions would have deteriorated even more and caused huge transit problems.
More than just Tennessee road conditions were created by this  storm. One of those was a wastewater spill that occurred thanks to the heavy rainfall. More than 1,000 gallons of wastewater entered the Little Tennessee River because the manhole overflowed.
Of course, the tradeoff for the rainfall is probably worth it. Despite the tough Tennessee road conditions they only lasted for a brief period of time. When compared to the much needed rain the road conditions were welcome despite problematic.

More rain is in the forecast, which is a good thing for the south where drought has plagued the states for months on end. Rain will shore up lakes and rivers and add to the drinking source. Many states are lifting water restrictions or holding off on implementing additional restrictions waiting to see what the weather will do over the next couple of days and weeks.

And, although many Southern states are still battling the drought the much needed rainfall really is helping. Farmers are less concerned about planting their crops and businesses are not as concerned about going out of business due to lack of water.
